DeckGen generators are designed to fit in tight quarters and have a fiberglass cover.

Designed for boats in the 24- to 30-foot-long range, Next Generation Power's DeckGen 2.4- and 3.5-kilowatt diesel generators are "vertically oriented." That means the generator portion of each unit fits below deck where air from the engine compartment allows it to breathe, but the engine is above deck and covered by a waterproof fiberglass box. The design makes it possible to locate the genset in tight areas.

The 2.4-kilowatt model weighs 140 pounds and will run a 5,000- 7,000-BTU air conditioner with power to spare. The 3.5-kilowatt genset can operate up to a 16,000-BTU air conditioner and weighs 160 pounds.

Both generators are available with an ignition- protection certification option so that they can be used in gasoline-powered vessels, as well as diesel craft.
The 2.4-kilowatt unit retails for $4,395. The 3.5- kilowatt model retails for $4,895.
